Sports International Client Preferred URUGUAY DUCK HUNTING |
|
Uruguay is a small South American country about the size of Pennsylvania. It is rich in agriculture especially rice, sunflower, sorghum and corn. The ducks are found in the rice area known as the province of Rocha. Here there are huge marshes which are the wintering home to hundreds of thousands of ducks. Morning Duck Hunts: We will have breakfast at the hotel and then head for the duck lagoons. Most drives to the duck lagoons are 30 minutes to 1 hour. Most of the time we will be shooting double blinds. Each blind will have a spread of decoys. Most of the ducks will be good decoying ducks. We will be shooting a good variety of ducks–mainly the rosy-billed pochard which is similar in size and character to mallards. Other species include silver teal, Brazilian teal, speckled teal, ringed teal, Cinnamon teal, Red shoveler, Chiloe Widgeon, brown pintail and whistling ducks. Most of the blinds are very easy to get to. We suggest you bring hip boots to hunt. |
The Finest Afternoon Perdiz
Hunts: For those unfamiliar with perdiz, it is an upland game bird a little bigger than a quail. Perdiz are hunted over Eduardo’s champion Brittanys–considered to be some of the finest hunting dogs in Uruguay. Hunts are conducted with two shooters per guide and dog. Most of the walking is very easy. Lightweight hunting boots are perfect for these hunts. You can expect to flush around 20-30 perdiz in an afternoon. |
