Hector Sarasola's Estancia Ninette

Estancia on Rio Negro RiverEstancia Ninette is a beautiful lodge on the Rio Negro River near Mercedes in the North west part of Uruguay where guests can hunt and fish and enjoy a relaxing holiday. The main lodge is large enough to accommodate 8-16 persons very comfortably and most hunts are less than a 20 minutes drive away.

Hector Sarasola is an excellent host who produces outstanding results and hunting over his champion Brittany's is an unforgettable experience.Doves hunts are in grain fields and flyways; guided open field Perdiz hunts are over well trained Brittanys using one dog and guide for two hunters; Outstanding duck hunting will be on baited ponds.

Expect to fire between 1,000 and 2,000 rounds per day at doves, perdiz average of 40-50 flushes in a morning and a couple of boxes of shells on each duck shoot. There is plenty of first rate shooting action.

Fishing in the river in front of the lodge is mostly "catch & release", although we can keep a few for "the pot".

Typical Itinerary:

hot barrel dove shootingArrival day: Flights from overseas depend on  the company. Arrive with time to drive to a close field and have a warm up shoot of three to four hours. After the shoot we'll drive you in comfortable vans to the lodge, (total drive time is three and a half hours) both from Buenos Aires or Montevideo, get settled, and have some drinks and dinner with the night river-view.  Charter plane is also available at extra cost.

Second to fifth day: Early breakfast, with eggs, bacon, juice and fresh baked bread are waiting you in the morning. After breakfast we head to the fields, usually just a few minutes from the lodge. We shoot ducks or perdiz in the mornings, best time for this game, and return to the lodge for a tasty lunch.

Afternoons are the best for a roost dove hunt, where you can easily shoot 500 shells.  Cold drinks and all the assistance needed are provided by the bird boys.  On a normal day you can expect a minimum of 75 shells over  ducks, 50 shells over flushing perdiz, and probably 500 on dove roost or flyway, and also have time to return early for a hot shower and drinks before dinner. You’ll have a gun room and equipment to take care of the guns, or the bird-boys are very happy to clean them for you.  Last day: We can have an early short perdiz hunt this morning, moving at 8 A.M., hunt for one and a half hours and come back to pack and get ready to leave the ranch and reach the plane departing Montevideo late afternoon.
