| Great Duck Hunts in PERU |
that's right, Peru! The
shooting
is operated out of blinds over decoys in coastal marshes along the
Pacific Coast of Peru. Most ducks will be teal of several different
varieties, but cinnamon teal will predominate. There
are also white
cheeked pintails. A reasonable expectation for a good shooter would be to shoot 50 ducks in a morning. There are no limits, but the outfitter limits the kill by restricting each shooter to 5 boxes of shells when he goes into the blind. A fair amount of wading will be required, so hunters must bring hip boots or even better, waders. Temperatures range from the 60's in the mornings to 80's by mid-day. There is usually no rain during duck season. |

The outfitter:
Braden Escobar is an enterprising young American who lives most
of the year in South America and is fully bilingual. Braden is a very
good outfitter with the experience and attention to detail that truly
makes a successful hunt.Driving distances from the hotel to shooting is from 10 minutes to no more than 1 hour. Duck hunts take place on fresh water ponds near rice fields. The shooting takes place a short drive from seaside towns so there is always plenty of fresh seafood. Afternoons are spent fishing, dove shooting or swimming in thermal pools. Dove shooters can expect to harvest maybe 30-50 doves in an afternoon shoot. The primary dove species in this area of Peru is the eared dove, which is the same one that is found in Argentina. |

The
city of arrival
and departure from the hunting area is Arequipa, which is a
beautiful old colonial city. It has a wealth of wonderful sightseeing
opportunities, and time will be provided for sightseeing.Arequipa is located at a elevation of 2,325 meters above sea level in the Desert Mountains of the Andes. This beautiful city is almost totally built out of sillar, a kind of white volcanic stone. This is why Arequipa is called “The White City”. With its one million inhabitants, Arequipa is the second largest city in Peru. The main square, the Plaza de Armas, is the most beautiful of the country. The magnificent "Catedrál" and the shopping malls are in colonial style. It is the city with the eternal spring. An add-on trip to Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Urubamba Valley is strongly recommended. This is one of the world's great touristic adventures. Click Here to see Stuart Williams' Peruvian Adventure |
